What Is S.W.A.P. Kids?

​

S.W.A.P. Kids was established in 2014 to intentionally invest in the next generation of leaders within the families and communities we serve. Recognizing that long term community transformation begins with children, S.W.A.P. Kids is designed to instill values of service, compassion, leadership, and responsibility at an early age. Through meaningful engagement and hands on experiences, children learn that their actions matter and that even small acts of kindness can create powerful, lasting change.

The program serves children and youth ages 5 to 18 through a structured, youth led service model. A children’s leadership board helps identify community needs and design service missions, which are carried out twice a month. These missions provide participants with real world opportunities to serve, lead, and work as a team while addressing tangible needs within their communities. Transportation is provided for all missions, ensuring equitable access for every child regardless of family resources.

Beyond service projects, S.W.A.P. Kids places a strong emphasis on life skills development. Participants receive guidance, resources, and mentorship that support character building, confidence, communication, and personal responsibility. The program is grounded in the biblical principle found in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Children are taught the importance of faith, generosity, and purpose, reinforcing the belief that they are valued, capable, and called to make a difference.

Support from donors and community partners allows S.W.A.P. Kids to continue providing high quality programming, safe transportation, materials for service projects, and enrichment opportunities that many children might not otherwise have access to. Donor investment directly impacts lives by helping children develop leadership skills, positive self worth, and a lifelong commitment to service. As children grow through the program, the benefits extend beyond the individual, strengthening families and communities and creating a ripple effect of positive change for years to come.
